Book Jounal: Twilight

Goal 92. Read 50 books and journal about them.

Book 1: Twilight
In high school I had a friend who was crazy about movies. After I while I learned that if Christy loved the movie, I was going to hate it. I cannot remember ever enjoying a movie that she recommended so after a while I learned that if she recommended it, I should probably avoid it.
I have another friend that I will ocassionally ask about movies or books and I've slowly discovered not to take her word for it when she's says that they weren't very good. To each their own opinion, of course, but at least I've learned now whose opinion will be likely to match mine.
Phillip and I went to see Twilight in theatres a few weeks ago and it was entertaining enough that I picked up a copy of the book. The author tells a good story and honestly it's refreshing to find a book that centers on a relationship but isn't entirely engrossed in sexual references. Sure, there is sexual tension but no graphic scenes and no sex in the focus relationship.
Everybody has their big deals when it comes to books and movies. Some people have a thing about violence or language but my pet peeve has always been sexuality so I guess this is why I've enjoyed the story so much. I don't like to watch or read things with a lot of sexual content, it's always bothered me like I'm intruding on a private moment and seeing things that my eyes shouldn't see (because I am) but I think it bothers me more than most people.

Fluffy teenager romance and all, I enjoyed it. It took me out of my world and sucessfully placed me in theirs. I was also eager for the second book and I haven't been that in a while. I guess I'm trying to say taht I understand the hype and it was a nice diversion from my usual heavy reading.

Things done to help me succeed with some of these goals

Whew, having weird computer problems the last couple of days but here is hopeing that I can actually post this.
I've done a few things to help me with some of my more long-term goals.

#58. Read Bible all the way through.
I signed up for an email that will send me scripture passages daily that will go through it in one year. I figure even if I get behind so long as I don't delete them until I read them I should be doing ok. This should work well in the office when I have down time. I also pulled out my 1year Bible that I had to read in College. It goes through it differently than the emails will (One is chronological and one is old testament/new testament back and forth). Hopefully between the two I will actually make it through the Bible once in 2009.

86. Get back into a size 4.
I signed up at peertraining.com in hopes that if I have to check in daily that I will actually watch what I eat. It kind of worked already because I decided not to drink a coke because I already had to put that I ate chocolate on there. My first mini goal is to drink 8-8 ounce glasses of water a day. We'll see what it goes with next week. This will also help with 94. which is to work out 15 minutes a day for 30days consecutively.

Here's to progress!

One more down

arrrgh!!! Internet ate my post.

Second attempt:

Phillip completed #35 for me. He bought me a stainless steel H2O bottle from Target. It's a funny green colour but I can live with it. I've been wanting to switch for a while now. I've had enough hormonal problems that with the reports coming out about hard plastics leaking estrogen-like hormones it was time to switch to stainless steel.

Totally forgot last friday update...

Ah well, it is what it is. So here I am now.

Truthfully, it's been kind of a long week. I had a whole list of crazy clients last week and I think they were crazier than usual. All I wanted was to go home and veg out, that's it. So that's what I did. My house is more of a pit than usual but things are looking better this week so hopefully I'll get something done.

The only possible thing I did this week that could count on this list is I finished reading a novel. It's a Dresden files book and I don't even remember the name of it right now. Oh well, it's a new week.

One down, one progress shots!

#6. Get something so that I can work out in front of the TV. Done! Yesterday Phillip picked up a mini stepper for me. It fits next to the shoe rack under a counter so it's perfect for our little apartment. I was hoping to fit it under the couch but no go. I used it for 5 minutes this morning and started sweating pretty bad. I guess I need more exercise in my life!

#11. Destash supplies so they fit in designated areas. Progress! First, a threadcatcher to hang next to my sewing machine. It's made from a workshirt of Phillip's that they ordered in the wrong size and a shirt that was given to me that I'll never wear. I've gotten really tired of chasing down little bits of thread, hopefully this will help keep my madness contained!

Next, Snowflakes! Made from Yarn I received after Phillip's Grandmother passed away.

Not a lot of progress but with all the stuff I have, every little bit helps!
