Book Jounal: Twilight

Goal 92. Read 50 books and journal about them.

Book 1: Twilight
In high school I had a friend who was crazy about movies. After I while I learned that if Christy loved the movie, I was going to hate it. I cannot remember ever enjoying a movie that she recommended so after a while I learned that if she recommended it, I should probably avoid it.
I have another friend that I will ocassionally ask about movies or books and I've slowly discovered not to take her word for it when she's says that they weren't very good. To each their own opinion, of course, but at least I've learned now whose opinion will be likely to match mine.
Phillip and I went to see Twilight in theatres a few weeks ago and it was entertaining enough that I picked up a copy of the book. The author tells a good story and honestly it's refreshing to find a book that centers on a relationship but isn't entirely engrossed in sexual references. Sure, there is sexual tension but no graphic scenes and no sex in the focus relationship.
Everybody has their big deals when it comes to books and movies. Some people have a thing about violence or language but my pet peeve has always been sexuality so I guess this is why I've enjoyed the story so much. I don't like to watch or read things with a lot of sexual content, it's always bothered me like I'm intruding on a private moment and seeing things that my eyes shouldn't see (because I am) but I think it bothers me more than most people.

Fluffy teenager romance and all, I enjoyed it. It took me out of my world and sucessfully placed me in theirs. I was also eager for the second book and I haven't been that in a while. I guess I'm trying to say taht I understand the hype and it was a nice diversion from my usual heavy reading.

Things done to help me succeed with some of these goals

Whew, having weird computer problems the last couple of days but here is hopeing that I can actually post this.
I've done a few things to help me with some of my more long-term goals.

#58. Read Bible all the way through.
I signed up for an email that will send me scripture passages daily that will go through it in one year. I figure even if I get behind so long as I don't delete them until I read them I should be doing ok. This should work well in the office when I have down time. I also pulled out my 1year Bible that I had to read in College. It goes through it differently than the emails will (One is chronological and one is old testament/new testament back and forth). Hopefully between the two I will actually make it through the Bible once in 2009.

86. Get back into a size 4.
I signed up at peertraining.com in hopes that if I have to check in daily that I will actually watch what I eat. It kind of worked already because I decided not to drink a coke because I already had to put that I ate chocolate on there. My first mini goal is to drink 8-8 ounce glasses of water a day. We'll see what it goes with next week. This will also help with 94. which is to work out 15 minutes a day for 30days consecutively.

Here's to progress!

One more down

arrrgh!!! Internet ate my post.

Second attempt:

Phillip completed #35 for me. He bought me a stainless steel H2O bottle from Target. It's a funny green colour but I can live with it. I've been wanting to switch for a while now. I've had enough hormonal problems that with the reports coming out about hard plastics leaking estrogen-like hormones it was time to switch to stainless steel.

Totally forgot last friday update...

Ah well, it is what it is. So here I am now.

Truthfully, it's been kind of a long week. I had a whole list of crazy clients last week and I think they were crazier than usual. All I wanted was to go home and veg out, that's it. So that's what I did. My house is more of a pit than usual but things are looking better this week so hopefully I'll get something done.

The only possible thing I did this week that could count on this list is I finished reading a novel. It's a Dresden files book and I don't even remember the name of it right now. Oh well, it's a new week.

One down, one progress shots!

#6. Get something so that I can work out in front of the TV. Done! Yesterday Phillip picked up a mini stepper for me. It fits next to the shoe rack under a counter so it's perfect for our little apartment. I was hoping to fit it under the couch but no go. I used it for 5 minutes this morning and started sweating pretty bad. I guess I need more exercise in my life!

#11. Destash supplies so they fit in designated areas. Progress! First, a threadcatcher to hang next to my sewing machine. It's made from a workshirt of Phillip's that they ordered in the wrong size and a shirt that was given to me that I'll never wear. I've gotten really tired of chasing down little bits of thread, hopefully this will help keep my madness contained!

Next, Snowflakes! Made from Yarn I received after Phillip's Grandmother passed away.

Not a lot of progress but with all the stuff I have, every little bit helps!

Friday Check-in

Hmm, here we go again. There are a lot of things that once I start them will be quickly crossed off and then there are a ton of things that are going to take a while so I'm getting started now so hopefully by the time my 1001 days are up I will at least have made some progress.

So here are some of the ones that I'm working on because I do not have anything else to cross off yet.

11. destash supplies until they fit in designated areas . Some progress made. I started a scarf which is going to take me forever but at least it is from stashed yarn. I'm also planning a couple of small sewing projects in the next little while so hopefully my material stash will shrink some this week too.

13. Start a french self-study or class Kind of started. I'm still hopeing to take a class but Phillip also bought me a "my french coach" for my Nintendo DS so I can do vocabulary building. Now I need something for grammer.

76. Finish Sweater. Um...I goofed and had to frog a very large piece of the sweater. Slightly backwards on that one this week.

94. Work out at least 15 minutes a day for 30 days consecutively
. I'm starting this one today. I expect to have many quits and restarts so hopefully if I start now I'll make progress by the end.

Hmm, I think that's it. Not a whole lot of progress this week but I know I'll have at least one more thing off the list next week. Progress is progress!

Number 33!

Well, we officially managed to get ahold of a TV converter box. The hardest part of getting it setup was getting the end of the power cord through the teenytiny little hole in the back of our entertainment unit. You see, the DVD player is on a shelf above the TV and we put the Convertor box on top of it. Well, my Father-in-law built it and it's beautiful, don't get me wrong. However, he also forgot that cords need to run through it so it really only has a makeshift hole that we had to make bigger. It kind of turned into a long process. Anyway, it's setup now and we do get a few more channels and when they come in clear, they are great to watch but when they don't, forget it. At least with analog you could watch it a little fuzzy. DTV becomes very pixelated and the sound is the first thing to go. Jury is still out whether this is going to be a vast improvement or just annoying.

Friday check in #3

Well, I can't say I made any real progress this week. But I said I'd check in once and week, so here I am!

#33. Buy converter box for TV. We tried twice to no avail! Walmart was out of them. We have to go back tonite for something else so maybe tonite I can cross that one off.

#51 Get my brain age down to 25. I picked up brain age 2 mornings in a row now so at least I can say I'm working on it. It says I'm at 36 but that assessment is from months ago. My brain has defiantely aged since then.

#76. Finish sweater. Worked on it the last few days. The back is repetative and boring but I'm trucking away!

#92. Read 50 Books and journal abou them. I'm working on The Hobbit. Okay, okay, technically I've read it before but I still think it counts. It's my "light" Tolkien reading as I'm planning on reading the Lord of the Rings next.

On an unrealated note, we are seriously close to being done our Christmas shopping. This is a first for me, as it's not even December yet!

Friday 101 Check-in

Okay, time for my second friday 101 goal check in!

I'm down to 100 before this post and I have made some progress this week but not tons.

#11. Destash supplies until they fit in designated areas. Umm, Kind of progress. DH bought me a ballwinder for my birthday so I will be able to organize my yarn stash better. However, I also bought 4 balls of Caron Simply Soft Eco to make a houndstooth scarf with so I may be going forwards and backwards at the same time.

#14. Buy a DS. Done! I spent my birthday money on a Metallic Rose Nintendo DS. Now I just need a case for it!

I think that's pretty much it, but at least I'm down to 99!

#5: Complete!

Goal 5. Make fingerless gloves for mom.

Okay, so I never said it was a big goal, but atleast I'm finished one. One down, 100 left to go!

101 in 1001 Friday update!

I've decided that I need to update at least once a week, whether I've done anything or not. Some are ongoing so I will try to update on those as well as any other in progress or finished ones. Without further ado!

5. Make fingerless gloves for mom. I've started this one. I'm almost done 1 glove and have done 1/2 pieces on the second one. I should be done in a couple of days tops.

31. Switch to environmentally safe cleaning products. This one my husband actually started without me. He bought some clorox green stuff for the toilet. We'll see if it does as good of a job as the regular stuff.

52. Read through communication book with DH. We started one a couple weeks ago but are only a few chapters in currently. This one I need to get on again.

53. Reduce debt load by 25%. We are currently down 9% of our original debt so I might have to reword that one. As it stands we need to get to 34% to complete the goal. Update next month when my loan payments have posted.

61. Get drivers license I've been driving a few times this week. Probably not today because it's pouring rain out. I want to have my license before Christmas.

Okay, I think that's it for this week. Hopefully I can at least cross one off soon!

My (latecoming) explanation of my blog

I've decided to do the 101 things in 1001 days challenge. Basically you come up with a list of 101 things you want to do and challenge yourself to do them 1001 days. Simple right? We'll see how it goes.

I also felt the need to delete my Xanga blog, which is another long story, so I'm going to use this as a vent space when I need it too. In other words, this blog is a mishmash of me. Big surpise.
